Creating Calm Classrooms grew from a simple idea: students learn best when they have meaningful opportunities to use their hands, engage their senses, explore ideas, and connect with the people around them.

We create hands-on experiences and educator resources that bring creativity, well-being, and meaningful learning into real classrooms.

Our signature program, Mud Makers, brings clay workshops directly into K–8 schools. Students sculpt, problem-solve, experiment, and create through projects that connect art with curriculum, STEAM learning, and student well-being.

Clay is uniquely suited to the classroom. It’s tactile, adaptable, naturally engaging, and gives students an opportunity to slow down and work with their hands. For schools, it creates something equally valuable: a shared experience that can bring a class, or an entire school community — together.

Creating Calm Classrooms was founded by Laura, an Ontario Certified Teacher with 15 years of classroom experience. It grew from years of seeing how much students benefit when learning includes movement, sensory experience, creativity, and opportunities to make something tangible.

Today, Creating Calm Classrooms works with schools and educators to create learning experiences that support creativity, engagement, connection and well-being.

Because sometimes the best way to bring learning to life is to get your hands a little muddy.
